2. Westlake High School coaching staff will only oversee the selection of an "A" and a "B" bantam team for each grade level.
3.The Westlake High basketball coaching staff will select 16-20 players from each grade level.
4. The top 10 players from each grade level may be spread throughout the "A" and "B" teams.
5. Additional lower-level bantam teams may be organized by parents willing to organize, coach and select a team.
6. Only the "A" and "B" teams will have the option to practice at Westlake High School.
7. All teams from the Westlake High footprint have the opportunity to participate in the annual "Thunder Jam".
8. The Westlake High basketball coaching staff will select and train "A" and "B" bantam coaches.
9. Bantam coaches will adhere to the John Wooden coaching philosophy: "I discovered early on that the player who learned the fundamentals of basketball is going to have a much better chance of succeeding and rising through the levels of competition than the player who was content to do things his own way. A player should be interested in learning why things are done a certain way. The reasons behind the teaching often go a long way to helping develop the skill." — John Wooden
10. The Westlake High coaching staff is keenly aware that the top players in the bantam program do not always become the top players at the high school level. It is important that players seek out as many opportunities to play as possible (i.e. Jr Jazz, AAU, etc.)
